30th October Broxbourne Sailing Club

Saturday 30th October K1 open meeting

Saturday March 20th K1 open meeting (details to follow)

Sunday March 21st  Exmoor Beastie.

The Beastie is an annual signature event that takes place in early Spring.

It is a three-hour pursuit race where racers typically follow the complete outline of the lake. The slowest boats are the first to set off based the Portsmouth Yardstick standard handicap system.

If you're wondering how the race became known as 'The Beastie', in part it derives from the legenadary 'beast of Exmoor' - but mostly it is due to the variable weather and 'interesting' sailing conditions often encountered in the Spring.

3RD, 4TH AND 5TH SEPTEMBER  K1 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

WPNSA is an ideal venue for sailing events of all sizes and sailors of all abilities.  With access to the world-class sailing waters of Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay, excellent facilities onshore and permanent staff's expertise, you will enjoy this national championships  There is a  wide range of facilities here which allows us to tailor our requirements from the race management to social occasions.

(The Academy is proud to have achieved the ISO 20121 standard for Event Sustainability Management, putting sustainability at the heart of  event planning.  See  Sustainability Policy here.)

NOR

NB boats can be dropped off on Thursday if required. Up to 5pm reception will be open. If you feel you may be arriving after this time phone the RECEPTION (any time in the week of the nationals) and they will give you access code and directions.

DRAFT SI

These sailing instructions are draft at present. However, i cant see them changing much. Please note the following:

  • 1. Leeward gates are being used (see the course diagram)

  • 2. Penalty point for failing to tally. This is important to keep people safe. This is a personal declaration but we will be implementing a buddy type system so we all remind each other.

  • 3. Must get permission from race committee if you intend to retire. This I think stems from racing in the bay and them being able to maintain safety cover. Please check your equipment NOW so you dont end up tied to a committee boat for ages!!!!

Additional BBQ tickets for non competitors can be purchased either by phoning RECEPTION or through WPSNA event website.

I have enclosed here a breakdown of costs for information.

The breakdown per boat is:

£25 per day for race management                                           £75.00

£2.25 per sailor per day for after racing snack                        £6.75

£4.11 entry system and PayPal fees                                         £4.11

£16 barbecue                                                                             £16.00

Total £101.86
